Donald Trump says he’ll give money and plane ticket for illegal immigrants

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his desire to offer financial aid and a plane ticket to any immigrant residing in the country illegally who opts to “self-deport,” with plans to facilitate the return of those who are “good”

This is a departure from his typically stringent stance on immigration.

During his campaign, Trump promised to execute mass deportation. However, in a pre-recorded interview with Fox Noticias that aired on Tuesday, he stated that his administration’s current focus is on expelling “murderers” from the country. For other illegal immigrants, he intends to introduce “a self-deportation program.”

While Trump did not provide extensive details about the plan, including its timeline, he mentioned that the U.S. would supply immigrants with airfare and a stipend.

“We’re going to give them a stipend. We’re going to give them some money and a plane ticket, and then we’re going to work with them – if they’re good – if we want them back in, we’re going to work with them to get them back in as quickly as we can,” Trump informed Fox Noticias’ Rachel Campos-Duffy, in an interview on Monday.

The proposal also aims to support industries such as agriculture and hospitality by assisting them in finding suitable workers. Trump mentioned that his administration would suggest individuals to fill necessary positions, which would be “very soothing” for farmers.

He stressed the importance of helping hotels and farms obtain the workers they require, stating that this would ultimately enable workers who are in the US illegally to leave and return with legal permission.

He has pledged to deport a record number of migrants in the US illegally and has pushed the limits of US law to increase arrests and deportations.

His administration has also encouraged immigrants to participate in their own expulsion by asking them to indicate their “intent to depart” using a US Customs and Border Protection app called CBP Home.
