Donald Trump has shared the stage with a fan who prays to a cardboard cutout of him every day.
The President invited the delighted man on stage at a Florida rally last night – to the apparent annoyance of Secret Service agents – and proclaimed: “A star is born!”.
The man’s depth of devotion to the US President later became clear in an interview with CNN.
In a message to the Republican billionaire, he said: “I’ve been with you for two years. Every single second, every day, I’m with you.”
“And I’m not lying, I do that every single day to the President that is cardboard.”
The man, named by CNN as Gene Huber, also implored the media to “be a little nicer to our President.”
The Republican returned to a campaign-style rally just weeks into his Presidency in a move that has raised eyebrows in Washington.
