Media personality Daddy Freeze has defended TikTok star Peller amid the backlash by rapper YCee’s “Olodo Uprising” comments, arguing that it is unfair to blame the content creator for the country’s declining value system
Reacting to the ongoing debate, Daddy Freeze acknowledged that Nigeria has an “olodo culture” but insisted that Peller should not be made the face of the problem.
He argued that the country’s economic realities have made education less rewarding for many young people, citing the low earnings of some highly educated professionals.
“We have an olodo culture, but it’s unfair to put the blame on Peller. It’s not fair putting fault on an intelligent man like Peller, who took advantage of a broken system.”
“I know a friend who is a professor and earns 700k a month. This is one factor that destroyed the value system. Education was not a means to reach a goal.”
Daddy Freeze also compared the rewards given to reality TV stars and outstanding students, saying the disparity reflects the country’s misplaced priorities.
“This is also why BBNaija winner earns N100m and best graduating student gets 10,000 naira.”
