A teacher in Odeomu, Osun State, identified simply as Okunola, has been crushed to death

He was said to be buying an item at the market, when a car crushed him to death.
After the accident, which occurred Tuesday, the driver of the car reportedly fled the scene, as angry residents razed down the car he drove.
A statement by the spokesperson for the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kehinde Adeleke, on Wednesday said the deceased had gone to the market to buy cassava peels.
Adeleke added that while trying to board a motorcycle, a car suddenly ran into the market and hit the teacher, killing him on the spot, which led to violent reactions from the residents.
It partly further read, “The said car was coming from Ibadan to Osogbo when the driver lost control due to a mechanical fault. The victim was a teacher in a school in Obada Area, Odeomu.
“The victim bought cassava peels at the Obada Market and was attempting to board a motorcycle, when the car hit him.
“People in the vicinity set the car ablaze immediately they confirmed the passing away of the victim. The driver of the car escaped from the scene and his whereabouts is unknown.”
