The driver in the crash that claimed the life of Gombe commissioner has also d!ed in the hospital making it a total of three lives lost in the tragic accident
The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed his de.ath. He was the driver of late Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd.).
He succumbed to his injuries barely 24 hours after the tragic road accident that also claimed the live of the commissioner’s police orderly.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, he disclosed that the driver d!ed while receiving treatment at a medical facility, following the Thursday crash along the Kwami–Malam Sidi–Gombe highway.
According to Abdullahi, Col. Bello, his orderly, Corporal Adamu Hussaini, and the driver were returning from Maiduguri, Borno State, where the commissioner had attended a regional consultation on disarmament, demobilisation, and reintegration before the fatal accident occurred.
“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Gombe State, as well as to the families of the late Commissioner, his police orderly, and the driver who d!ed today, October 25, 2025, while receiving treatment,” the statement read.
