Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken into custody Daood Imran Molaasan, an Islamic cleric based in Osun State, following a pro-Palestine demonstration in the area
Molaasan, who heads the Ta’awunu Muslimeen group, was reportedly arrested after a video circulated online showing him and his followers calling for the liberation of Palestine, which they described as under Israeli occupation.

The footage captured members of the group marching through Iwo while carrying the Palestinian flag, and it quickly went viral on social media, eliciting mixed reactions. While some users expressed support for the Palestinian cause, others raised concerns over security implications.
Ta’awunu Muslimeen describes itself as an Islamic movement focused on religious teachings and global Muslim issues and has previously organised similar pro-Palestine rallies, including one in 2018.

During the recent march, participants were seen pledging allegiance to the Qur’an and Sunnah. Certain aspects of the protest, including coordinated arm gestures by some demonstrators, drew criticism from observers who compared them to Nazi-style salutes. The involvement of children chanting strong religious slogans also intensified concerns among critics.
As of this report, the DSS has not issued an official statement or disclosed the charges, if any, against Molaasan.
