Members of the Edo State Market Women Association staged a peaceful protest in Benin City, covering the King Square and Oba Market areas, to express their opposition to an alleged plan to appoint an Iyaloja of Edo Market Women

The association’s leader, Blackky Ogiamen, represented market women from all three senatorial districts in rejecting the plan, describing it as an imposition.

She emphasized that the association is non-partisan and has maintained a collaborative relationship with successive Edo State governments.

The market women have vowed to resist any actions that could disrupt the peace and harmony within their association, demonstrating their commitment to protecting their interests.
