In a post shared on May 1, Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, announced that he is working on a new form of celebration that doesn’t involve throwing money — a common tradition at Nigerian parties.

He wrote:

“If you are famous, if you are a well-known businessman with an address, please don’t spray money. EFCC are not joking on this. If you already have an invitation letter from the EFCC, please go and honor it.

For now, spraying of money don cast for we wey dey popular. I nearly go jail last year. Me I no go ever spray again whether dollar, euro, naira or pounds. I’m seriously working on another type of ‘doings’ wey we go dey use shut down events. If you spray money, EFCC must come for you.

Happy new month fam. Avoid wahala.”

He captioned the post:
“Happy New Month Fam

Cubana Chief Priest’s warning follows his own recent legal troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which charged him with abusing the naira by publicly spraying money at events in 2020 and 2024.

He pleaded not guilty but later reached an out-of-court settlement that included a N10 million payment and a promise to launch a public awareness campaign on the misuse of the naira.

With the EFCC now taking a firm stand against naira abuse, Cubana Chief Priest is urging public figures to reconsider how they show off their wealth at public events — or risk facing serious legal consequences.
