The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted a report by BBC News Pidgin that claimed VeryDarkMan (VDM), was arrested based on multiple petitions

BBC News Pidgin had quoted EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale as confirming the arrest, stating that VDM would be released once he met his bail conditions and that the matter would be taken to court promptly.
But in a statement posted on its official social media accounts Monday evening, the EFCC dismissed the report as “fake news.” The agency shared a screenshot of the BBC article along with another related post, but did not provide additional context or clarification.

VeryDarkMan was said to have been apprehended last Friday after visiting a GTBank branch in the Area 3 part of Garki, Abuja.
The incident has triggered backlash online, with several users accusing the bank of working with the EFCC to enable the arrest.
