EFCC names Academy Block in Abuja after slain officer Aminu Salisu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has named the administrative block of its academy in Karu, Abuja, after the late Aminu Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent Officer (ASO) who was killed during a night operation in Anambra State on January 17, 2025

During the commission’s annual rewards and recognition ceremony held on Saturday in Abuja, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede announced the gesture as a tribute to the slain officer. Olukoyede described Salisu as a gallant officer who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, adding that his memory must be preserved.

“We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment,” Olukoyede said. “He was a gallant officer, and to this effect, the administrative block of the academy is hereby named after him.”

In addition to honoring Salisu, the EFCC recognized 36 officers across various categories, including highest recovery, highest conviction, best departmental staff, best zonal directorate, and staff of the year.

Olukoyede congratulated the award recipients and encouraged them to maintain their high performance. “Excellence is not about doing things right once in a while; it is about doing things right all the time. You need to continue to offer the best as the reward for hard work is more work,” he said.

He also announced the promotion of 900 staff members and the reinstatement of life and property insurance for employees. However, Olukoyede cautioned against compromising the commission’s core values, emphasizing that the ongoing internal cleansing will show no leniency to offenders.
