The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has insisted that Ezekiel Thankgod, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, must appear in court to defend himself against money laundering and dishonest conversion charges
In a statement via its X handle, the EFCC stated that Thankgod must be present before Justice A. O. Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi for his arraignment.
The charges, amounting to $340,000, stem from allegations that he retained $260,494 in an EEZEE Global Ministry bank account, funds allegedly belonging to Mercy Chinwo and Judith Kanayo.
Justice Owoeye had issued a bench warrant for his arrest on January 16, 2025, after the EFCC informed the court that he had been evading arraignment. The case has now been adjourned to March 6, 2025.
