Ekweremadu: Enough Of Social Media Trial – Ohanaeze Youths
The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has called for caution over the case involving former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
Recall Ekweremadu and his wife were arraigned before a UK court today over alleged organ trafficking. The court denied them bail and adjourned the matter to July 7.
In a statement signed by the President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, he said Ekweremadu’s letter to the UK Embassy prior to the trip was an evidence that the Senator had no ill motive.
Okwu lamented that, “instead of waiting for the law to run its course, Ekweremadu has already been tried and convicted on social media.
“While we will not support any form of illegality, we make bold to say that Senator Ekweremadu has never been associated with any form of criminality, let alone one as much as organ trafficking.
“It is on this note that we ask for restraint from everyone commenting on this matter. From what we have gathered, there was a consent from the donor, who contrary to earlier reports is not a minor but a boy of over 20 years.”
“On the strength of these, we remain solidly behind Senator Ike Ekweremadu until the legal process is exhausted and it is proved otherwise,” he added.
