Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Saturday offered to cover the salaries of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel amid a funding deadlock in the United States that is disrupting airport operations
Posting on social media platform X, Musk wrote, “I would like to offer to pay the salaries of TSA personnel during this funding impasse that is negatively affecting the lives of so many Americans at airports throughout the country.”

The announcement comes as concerns mount over potential delays and disruptions at airports nationwide, with TSA staff critical to maintaining security and passenger flow.
Musk did not provide details on how the payment arrangement would be implemented, but his offer highlighted the challenges faced by aviation security workers during periods of government funding uncertainty.
The statement also reflects growing worries about the effects of funding delays on essential services and the broader travel system. The US administration previously reported that more than 10 per cent of TSA officers had not reported to work during the funding lapse, a sharp rise from the usual absentee rate of less than 2 per cent.
