On Monday, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State named a newly commissioned road in Abakpa Nike, Enugu metropolis, after renowned countryside music legend, Mike Ejeagha
The road, now known as Mike Ejeagha Road, is located near the music icon’s residence, where he has lived for over six decades.
During the occasion, Governor Mbah visited Ejeagha at his home and announced that the state government would assume full responsibility for his upkeep, recognizing him as a living legend.
Mbah highlighted the significance of the road, stating, “We are commissioning four roads today, but one stands out – the road leading to the home of our great legend, Mike Ejeagha.”
The governor emphasized Enugu State’s pride in its legendary figures, not only in sports but also in music, citing Ejeagha’s folk songs as a testament to the state’s rich cultural heritage.
This honor and commitment to Ejeagha’s care demonstrate the state’s appreciation for his contributions to Nigerian music.
