The deal significantly increases his previous salary of £400,000 per week, making him City’s highest earner.

The new contract removes all release clauses, a notable departure from his previous agreement, which was set to expire in 2027. By the time this historic contract ends, Haaland will be 34 years old, marking one of football’s longest-ever deals.

Haaland, 24, had been linked with Real Madrid but has chosen to extend his stay with City, where he has scored 111 goals in 126 matches since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in June 2022.

City, currently sixth in the Premier League, are in the midst of a squad rebuild, with defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis nearing moves from Lens and Palmeiras, respectively. A deal has also been finalized for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

This contract extension coincides with Manchester City awaiting the outcome of their disciplinary case involving 115 Premier League charges, all of which the club has denied.

Reflecting on his decision, Haaland said:
“I am really happy to have signed my new contract and look forward to spending even more time at this great club. Manchester City is a special place, full of fantastic people and amazing supporters. Pep [Guardiola], his coaching staff, my teammates, and everyone at the club have helped me grow so much. I want to keep improving and help the team achieve even more success.”

Haaland also praised Guardiola, calling him “the most hard-working person I’ve ever seen,” adding:
“Working with Pep is tough but inspiring. He demands a lot, which is exactly what I want. His input pushes me to develop into a better footballer every day.”

Haaland has scored 16 league goals this season, including back-to-back hat-tricks early on. However, he currently trails Mo Salah in the Golden Boot race, with the Liverpool forward on 18 goals.

Since joining City, Haaland has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, an FA Cup, and a Super Cup. The Norwegian striker originally signed a five-year deal in 2022 after City triggered his £51 million release clause from Dortmund, a transfer that could total £85.5 million, including agent fees and bonuses.

At Dortmund, Haaland netted 86 goals in 89 appearances, following a prolific spell at RB Salzburg.
