Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has denied making a quote attributed to her following the team’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu
A pro-government Instagram page had shared a post claiming the footballer praised the president after their meeting. The quote read:
“I saw a completely different person. Caring, kind, with a great sense of humour. He is nothing like what they say. If you meet him, you’ll definitely fall in love with him. May the President succeed.”
Okoronkwo, 28, wasted no time in distancing herself from the claim. Taking to her Instagram story, she posted:
“Abeg when did I talk this one?”
She added a facepalm emoji to convey her disapproval.
The post, which featured a photo of Okoronkwo and President Tinubu, drew mixed reactions, with many Nigerians slamming the spread of fabricated quotes and the exploitation of public figures for political propaganda.
