Enyimba’s Sporting Director and former international, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, confirmed the deal on Tuesday, stating that the negotiations had been ongoing for a while and were completed recently.

Ideye, 36, has been without a club since leaving Kuwaiti side Al Yarmouk in 2022.

His return to the Nigerian top flight comes after a period without play, joining the ranks of fellow former internationals Ahmed Musa and Abdullahi Shehu, who currently play for Kano Pillars. This move marks Ideye’s return to the domestic scene 17 years after leaving Ocean Boys in 2006.

While he was close to joining Rivers United in October, the move fell through. Enyimba, with key domestic and continental matches ahead, hopes that Ideye will strengthen their attack as they compete in the NPFL and CAF Confederation Cup.
