The police in Rivers State have said the person who planned
the kidnap of the 85-year old mother of the Commissioner for Information and
Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George in Rivers State is indeed a family
member. According to them, the said man, Sylvanus George (pictured above) has
been arrested and he has confessed to the crime. He told Police that poverty
led him into it, and he had thought her successful children would pay the
ransom he and his gang asked for and that was what led him into that.
