Fan validates Davido’s impact on Afrobeats

A Davido fan, Kelly Bonito, has come to the singer’s defense after he stated that Afrobeats cannot be discussed without mentioning his name

Kelly Bonito took to X to list Davido’s numerous achievements, which solidify his position as a pioneer in the Afrobeats genre.

Davido was the first Afrobeats artist to receive RIAA certification, partner with a global record label in 2016, perform at the FIFA World Cup final, and have a song certified Gold in the U.S. and Canada. He also made history by becoming the first Afrobeats artist to win the BET Best International Act award with a live performance in 2018 and have an album receive three Grammy nominations with TIMELESS.

Furthermore, Davido has achieved impressive records, including shutting down the O2 Arena, owning his own festival, and having a song cross 100M and 200M views on YouTube. He is also the most followed Afrobeats artist on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter.

By listing these achievements, Kelly Bonito validated Davido’s claim that Afrobeats cannot be discussed without mentioning his name.
