Chief Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu, father of Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, has been crowned the traditional ruler of Oferekpe Agbaja Autonomous Community in Izzi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State

Ezeogo Nwankpu, a respected farmer and patriarch, is known for his unique family structure. He has been married to 30 wives, though some left due to childbearing challenges. Currently, he lives with 17 wives and has fathered 108 children. Among them, 21 have graduated from higher institutions, including Governor Francis Nwifuru, who is the son of his fourth wife.
As the Chibugo I of Oferekpe Agbaja Autonomous Community, Ezeogo Nwankpu now oversees 17 villages. The governor presented him with a certificate and staff of office during the coronation ceremony, conducted in line with the Ebonyi State Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Law, Cap 146.

During the event, Governor Nwifuru reflected on the family’s past struggles, recounting instances of dejection, intimidation, and land dispossession by villagers. He revealed that his uncle was killed in the village square, and their family land was seized, later becoming the site of Oferekpe Agbaja Primary School II, where the coronation took place.
Governor Nwifuru praised his father’s resilience and hard work, highlighting his contributions to the community through farming and the education of his children.
