FCTA seals PDP National Secretariat

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday, May 26, sealed the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja over decades of unpaid ground rent

The PDP secretariat, located at Wadata Plaza in Wuse Zone 5, was among 4,794 properties affected in a sweeping enforcement drive against defaulting property owners across the FCT. According to officials, the affected properties owe ground rent ranging from one to 43 years.

A revocation notice issued by the FCTA stated that the Right of Occupancy on the property had been withdrawn due to the prolonged default. Ownership of the land has since reverted to the government, and relevant agencies have begun taking control of the premises.

While the enforcement was carried out under the authority of the FCTA, which is headed by Minister Nyesom Wike, there is no direct evidence linking him personally to the decision to seal the PDP headquarters.

However, the PDP has condemned the move, describing it as politically motivated and an attempt to suppress opposition voices. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, alleged that the action was driven by ulterior motives and posed a threat to democracy.

The development comes amid deepening internal tensions within the PDP, following Wike’s recent public fallout with key party leaders and his withdrawal from ongoing reconciliation efforts.
