Fear Grips Edo Community As Man With Suspected Ebola Symptoms Dies + Abuja Airport Now Screen Passengers

    There was anxiety at Udo
community in Orhiomwon Local Government Council of Edo state, last Sunday following
the death of a middle aged man whom some people in the community allege he died
of the dreaded Ebola virus.  But others
said, the deceased was an epileptic patient and had died after an attack.
    However, some villagers who have
been listening to radio and are aware of the symptoms of Ebola say he died of
the virus because they observed blood in some parts of his body with foam in
    his mouth. Continue below.

    Before he died, the villagers
said they noticed the symptom which made them cover their hands and other parts
of their body and bundled him into an empty bus and ordered the driver to take
him to a hospital for treatment.
    The driver however refused for
fear of contacting the virus and found a way of taking him down from his vehicle.
    The ministry of health was
however contacted, but when they got there, the man had already died. He was
later taken away so that his body could be isolated and the possible reasons
    for his death known.
Some of the villagers have already
flee the community for fear of contacting the disease.
    However an official at the
ministry of health said; “Though we heard he was an epileptic patient but we
just want to be sure about the cause of death. His corpse has been isolated and
we can only talk more when the result of the test is out’’.
Meanwhile in a bid to curb the
spread of the deadly Ebola virus, passengers arriving both from the domestic
and international wings of the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja, are now being made
    to undergo intense screening.
A division of the Ministry of Health
started the exercise at the airport last Friday with passengers arriving from
the Emirates Airlines being the first to be screened. Other passengers who also
arrived were all made to queue and were all tested on after the other.
