The Federal High Court in Kaduna has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, while a separate bail hearing at the Kaduna State High Court was adjourned to April 21, 2026
The court session, presided over by Justice Rilwan Aikawa, saw tight security around the premises, with operatives stationed at key points to maintain order and restrict movement during proceedings.
At the Federal High Court, the former governor was granted bail on strict conditions. However, the Kaduna State High Court adjourned its own bail hearing to April 21, 2026, without concluding the matter.
The Federal High Court imposed a ₦200 million bail bond with two sureties.
One surety is required to present a Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property, while the second must be a respected elder in Kaduna State, verified by the Kaduna State Council of Elders.
The court further ordered that El-Rufai and his legal team must not grant media interviews until the trial is concluded.
He is also required to report monthly to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and deposit his international passport with the court.
