Seun Kuti has responded again to comments and criticisms around his ongoing disagreement with social media activist VeryDarkMan, issuing a statement that has become the latest point of discussion between both sides.
In his latest reaction, Seun pushed back against attempts to challenge or provoke him using references to his father, Fela Kuti, while also questioning VeryDarkMan’s approach to public charity and social intervention.
He said:
“I am Fela’s son, there is nothing you can say about Fela that would make me react because all these things have been said to me before. Fela fed thousands of people, unlike borehole and yeye charity Verydarkman is doing.”
The comment has drawn reactions from supporters on both sides, extending the disagreement between the two public figures.
The disagreement did not begin with Seun’s latest statement. It developed from a wider online dispute involving VeryDarkMan and businessman Blord, which had already drawn attention over allegations and counter-allegations connected to their dealings.
The situation became more layered when activist Omoyele Sowore publicly engaged with the matter, adding commentary that brought further attention to the dispute. From there, the conversation expanded to include other voices in Nigeria’s activist and entertainment space, including Seun Kuti.
What has followed is less about a single incident and more about differing views on activism particularly the contrast between traditional political engagement and newer forms of online-driven charity work.
Seun’s latest comment now sits at the center of that exchange, keeping the conversation active as both sides continue to defend their positions.
