The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) has assured the family of Pa Michael Taiwo, the designer of the Nigerian national flag, that he will receive a befitting burial
NICO’s Executive Secretary, Biodun Ajiboye, stated that President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, are deeply concerned about the situation and have directed NICO to assist the family with the burial arrangements.
Ajiboye emphasized that it is part of Nigerian culture to honor and respect its heroes, and the government cannot abandon Pa Akinkunmi, who has contributed significantly to the country’s heritage.
NICO has stepped in to coordinate and collaborate with other agencies to ensure a dignified burial for the late national hero.
The decision comes after social media reports highlighted the seeming neglect of Pa Akinkunmi’s burial arrangements.
