FG closes case against Nnamdi Kanu

The government’s lead counsel, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), made the announcement after the fifth and final prosecution witness, identified only as EEE for security reasons, testified and was cross-examined by Kanu’s lawyer, Onyechi Ikpeazu, before Justice James Omotosho at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Awomolo told the court that after presenting five witnesses and tendering what he described as substantial evidence, including recordings of Kanu’s broadcasts and IPOB activities, the prosecution was convinced it had established a strong enough case to warrant closing its presentation.

In response, the lead defence counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, notified the court that the defence would be filing a no-case submission, arguing that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Kanu.
