The Federal Government has installed new passport printers in consulates in New York and Atlanta, United States of America to ease the process of passport applications
The machines were delivered and installed Tuesday, February 18, 2025, according to a statement on Wednesday by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Interior, Babatunde Alao, and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had waded into the passport printer crisis in the two consulates when he directed the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in January 2025, to deliver new passport printers to consulates in New York and Atlanta.
Recall that some Nigerians in the diaspora recently called the attention of the Minister to the need for new printers to ease the process of passport application in the concerned consulates.
According to the statement: “Following the directives of the Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in January 2025 to deliver new passport printers to consulates in New York and Atlanta, United States of America; the machines were delivered and installed yesterday, February 18, 2025.
“The installation of the new printers provides immediate relief and is part of the Ministry’s broader effort to streamline passport services in ensuring a more seamless application process,”.
The Minister of Interior reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to innovation and improved service delivery.
“The installation of these new printers demonstrates our dedication to addressing the needs of Nigerians at home and abroad,” he said.
