Filmmaker Jade Osiberu has come under fire after reversing her stance on President Tinubu, whom she previously supported over Peter Obi during the 2022 presidential campaign.
On September 28, 2024, Osiberu posted a lighthearted message on X, commenting, “My to-do list is ridiculously long, but what have I been doing all day? Scrolling through social media causes dopamine release. In the T-Pain economy?! Wonderful!”
However, her post sparked criticism, with a user @okonkwoac resurfacing a 2022 post in which Osiberu had dismissed Peter Obi as lacking the ability to grow Nigeria’s wealth.
In that post, she had written, “I like the idea of someone who is frugal and has integrity running Nigeria, but after hearing Peter Obi speak, I fear he’s the guy to trust with your money but not to multiply your wealth, and Nigeria needs the latter. We need a big thinker to dig us out of this economic hole.”
Her change in position has led to mixed reactions, with some users criticizing her for shifting her stance on the country’s leadership.
