Fire incidents claim over N132m property

The Kano State Fire Service has reported that property worth over N132,450,000 was destroyed in various fire outbreaks across the state in November 2024

The service also confirmed three fatalities, with four other lives saved during its operations last month.

In a statement released by the Fire Service spokesman, Saminu Abdullahi, the agency disclosed that they responded to 43 fire calls, six false alarms, and five rescue operations from their 29 fire stations across the state.

Despite the significant losses, property worth N310,600,000 was saved from destruction through prompt interventions.

Abdullahi lamented the loss of lives and properties but praised the efforts of the Fire Service personnel.

“We are saddened to report the loss of three lives in these incidents, but our team was able to rescue four individuals and save property valued at over N310 million,” he said.

The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Hassan Muhammad, emphasized the need for the public to exercise caution, especially during the harmattan season, known for its heightened risk of fire outbreaks.

“We urge all residents to handle fire and flammable materials with extreme care during this harmattan period,” Muhammad advised.
