A devastating fire broke out at the prestigious Gidan Rumfa palace, the residence of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, on the evening of July 12, 2024
The incident occurred around 11 pm, with sources suggesting that the fire was deliberately set.
According to Sahara reporters, the blaze primarily affected the palace at Kofar Kudu, where the Emir holds court every Monday.
Fortunately, no lives were lost, but the fire resulted in significant damage, destroying the throne, air conditioning units, and other valuable items.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, with the palace taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the premises and its occupants.
