Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a place in the Round of 16 at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Colombia in Talca on Monday
Goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt was the hero in the early stages, making crucial saves in the 23rd and 26th minutes to keep the score level, while Nigeria dominated much of the play.

Tahir Maigana, Kparobo Arierhi, and Suleman Sani led several dangerous attacks, testing the Colombian defense throughout the match.
Colombia struck first in the 51st minute when Kener Gonzalez capitalized on an assist from Neyser Villareal. Despite falling behind, the Flying Eagles pushed forward relentlessly. Odinaka Okoro had a close chance in the 76th minute with a header from a Maigana cross, but the Colombian goalkeeper denied him.
Nigeria finally equalized in the 86th minute after captain Daniel Bameyi calmly converted a penalty following a handball on Maigana’s effort inside the box. The Flying Eagles nearly grabbed a late winner in the 89th minute when Arierhi’s shot was blocked.
With this result, Nigeria will face Argentina at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos in Santiago on Wednesday—a rematch of their previous U20 World Cup quarter-final in Argentina, which Nigeria won 2-0 in San Juan.
Colombia will face South Africa, while Norway takes on Paraguay in the Round of 16.
