Former Liverpool, Newcastle United and England star Kevin Keegan has d!ed at the age of 75 after battling stage four stomach cancer
Keegan’s illness was made public in January, when it was revealed he had been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer and was undergoing treatment. He passed away on Monday.
The England national team is expected to honour its former manager before the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League clash against Spain in September.
Widely regarded as one of football’s greatest figures, Keegan enjoyed an illustrious playing career spanning more than 750 club appearances for Scunthorpe United, Liverpool, Hamburg and Newcastle United.
He won three English First Division titles with Liverpool and claimed back-to-back Ballon d’Or awards in 1978 and 1979 during his time at German club Hamburg.
On the international stage, Keegan earned 63 caps for England between 1972 and 1982, scoring 21 goals and cementing his place among the country’s football legends.
