Former PSV Eindhoven player Rai Vloet is facing a two-and-a-half year prison sentence for causing the d3ath of a four-year-old boy in a car crash
The 29-year-old – who previously represented the Dutch club in the Champions League – was sentenced last year but later opted to appeal the decision
The horrific incident that claimed the life of the young child took place in 2021 and the Public Prosecution Service had called for Vloet to have his initial sentence extended by a further 12 months.
But, the former footballer has now decided to withdrawal the appeal with ANP confirming that his lawyer, Alrik de Haas, has pulled the motion on September 3.
The Public Prosecution Service have also made the same decision with their appeal meaning Vloet is now set to serve his prison sentence handed down to him for causing the crash.
Vloet was reportedly ‘smelling of alcohol and with bloodshot eyes’ when he crashed on the A4 near Hoofddorp which resulted in the death of Gio Roos.
The incident is understood to have happened when he was driving a group of friends to Rotterdam after a party in Amsterdam.
