Former Israeli president Shimon Peres is dead. The elder statesman died in Tel Aviv this morning aged 93. Peres was hospitalised following a stroke two weeks ago.
He was believed to have made some progress before a sudden deterioration in his condition on Tuesday which led to his death this morning.
