France secured a place in the FIFA World Cup semifinals with a convincing 2-0 victory over Morocco in Thursday’s quarterfinal clash
Kylian Mbappé overcame an early setback after missing a first-half penalty to inspire Les Bleus with a goal and an assist. The forward broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, scoring his 20th career World Cup goal to move within one of Lionel Messi’s tournament tally.

Ousmane Dembélé sealed the win six minutes later, finishing off a move assisted by Mbappé for his fifth goal of the competition.
The victory sends France into the semifinals, where they will face either Spain or Belgium in Dallas on Tuesday.
The result also mirrored France’s 2-0 victory over Morocco in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, when the Atlas Lions became the first African nation to reach that stage of the tournament.
With the latest win, France remains on course to become only the third country to reach three consecutive FIFA World Cup finals.
