The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano State Sector Command, has arrested a man suspected of snatching motorcycles while impersonating a corps official in different parts of the state

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Sector Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran.
According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Ali from Bela village in Ungoggo Local Government Area of Kano State, was apprehended by the Intelligence Unit of the command on January 19, 2026, following several complaints from members of the public.
Labaran said the complaints bordered on the activities of individuals allegedly posing as FRSC personnel to unlawfully seize motorcycles under the pretext of conducting patrol operations.

Preliminary investigations, he explained, revealed that the suspect had been forcefully arresting motorcycles while impersonating FRSC officials, with some of the motorcycles believed to have been stolen thereafter.
He added that a fake driver’s licence was recovered from the suspect during the arrest, further indicating the use of false identity to carry out the alleged criminal acts.
The FRSC spokesperson said the suspect has since been handed over to the Gwale Divisional Police Station in Kano for further investigation and possible prosecution.
