Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has carried out a cabinet reshuffle that resulted in the appointment of a new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
As part of the changes, Christopher Green was moved from the Ministry of Sports to the Ministry of Justice, where he will now serve as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He will, however, continue to oversee the Sports Ministry until a substantive commissioner is appointed.

The position became vacant following the exit of the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dagogo Iboroma, SAN. His removal came in the wake of a recent Supreme Court judgment that brought legal closure to the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.
The apex court ruling nullified the appointments of commissioners who were screened and confirmed by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led three-member House of Assembly. This decision rendered several cabinet positions vacant and disrupted the structure of the State Executive Council.
Since the judgment, tensions have reportedly intensified between the executive arm of government and the House of Assembly, making it difficult for the governor to submit new nominees for legislative screening and confirmation.
In response, Governor Fubara opted for an internal cabinet reorganisation, reassigning existing commissioners to maintain continuity in governance and prevent administrative gaps in key ministries.
The reshuffle was confirmed in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, who clarified that Christopher Green will handle both the Justice and Sports portfolios on an interim basis.
According to the state government, the move was taken in the interest of stability and effective administration as efforts continue to address the lingering political and legislative challenges.
