The Headies, Nigeria’s most prestigious music awards, released its much-anticipated nomination list for the 17th edition on Wednesday
The list features both local and international artists recognized for their contributions to the music industry over the past year.
Notably, Tochukwu Ojogwu, aka Odumodu Blvck, leads the nominations with a total of five, followed by Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, and Crown Uzama, aka Shallipopi, who each secured three nominations.
Odumodu Blvck is also in the running for Best Collaboration, with two songs competing alongside tracks by Chike, Wizkid, Zlatan, Asa, and Tiwa Savage.
Meanwhile, the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, received three nominations despite being off the music scene since his passing on September 12, 2023.
The nominations, announced via The Headies’ official X handle, include categories such as Producer of the Year, Best Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best R&B Single, Rookie of the Year, Best Rap Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), Best Music Video, and Best Collaboration.
