Ghana Denies Banning Imported Goods From Nigeria

Following a news report carried by the Vanguard newspaper
that Ghana has placed a ban on some imported goods from Nigeria, the office of
Ghana Consulate-General in a statement debunked the claim, saying that at no
point did the Ghanaian authorities ban any imported goods from Nigeria.
    Vanguard had on
February 18, 2016 in a report titled: ‘Ghana bans goods from Nigeria, other
countries’ stated that Ghana has prohibited some items from entry into its
domains, following Nigeria’s footsteps that restricted 41 items from access to
foreign exchange, adding that Ghana had however placed a ban on some goods from
    being imported into the country.

The statement reads: “The Ghana High Commission would wish
to state categorically that the (story) is false and does not reflect the
position of the Ghanaian Government or that of the Hon. Minister of Trade and
Industry of Ghana, Mr. Ekwow Spio-Grbarah, as alleged by the Vanguard report.”
