'Ghost workers’ protest in Taraba over unpaid salaries

Individuals in Taraba state on Thursday, have staged a protest in the state’s capital, Jalingo, demanding the payment of outstanding salaries

The protesters who were tagged as ‘ghost workers’, insisted that they were genuine employees, claiming that they had completed the verification exercise.

They appealed to the governor of Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas, to intervene in their ordeal. The protesters also lamented about the hardship faced after their removal from the payroll.

“We have worked tirelessly and deserve our pay. We are not ghosts; we are humans with families to feed,” one of the protesters stated.

Governor Kefas addressed the protesters, assuring them of a review of the records, adding that verified employers will be paid in due time.
