In October 2024, Aisha Suleiman faced an attempted lynching after a post on X falsely accused her of poisoning five people—her boyfriend and four of his friends
Despite not being in the area when the tragic incident occurred, Aisha was confronted upon her return and publicly humiliated by members of the community. They tied her up and prepared to set her on fire with petrol.
It was only thanks to the intervention of authorities that Aisha’s life was saved. She was arrested, taken into custody, and later charged in court.
However, human rights activists took up her cause, leading to a full investigation. It was revealed that the five victims died from inhaling generator fumes, not poisoning as originally claimed.
Exonerated, Aisha shared that she had never cooked pepper soup for anyone and explained that the conflict began after she broke up with her late ex-boyfriend. She stated that the father of the deceased man had stopped her from visiting their home.
On the day of the incident, Aisha was in Iyakpi, while the tragedy occurred in Afashio. Now, calls are growing for the individual who falsely accused her to face legal consequences.
