Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in London
Jonathan was received by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other members of the Federal Government delegation, who are in the UK to oversee arrangements for the repatriation of Buhari’s remains.
During the visit, Jonathan paid glowing tribute to the late president, describing him as a committed statesman who served Nigeria with dedication.
He was joined by former Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, who also offered condolences and praised Buhari’s role in strengthening democracy and promoting stability in West Africa.
Their visit came a day after Buhari’s death in a London hospital at the age of 82. Vice President Shettima had earlier arrived in the UK on the directive of President Bola Tinubu to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.
Also mourning the late leader, Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio, who currently chairs the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, described Buhari as a courageous leader who played a vital role in promoting peace and integration in the region.
