Google has terminated nearly 30 of its US employees after they staged protests against the company’s contract with the Israeli government.Google fires staff over protesting Israeli contract

These employees, who were advocating for Palestine, were arrested during sit-ins at Google offices in New York and California.

After an internal investigation, Google’s vice president of global security, Chris Rackow, announced the termination of 28 employees through a companywide memo. The memo stated that the terminated employees had disrupted office operations, defaced property, and made their colleagues feel threatened.

The fired employees are reportedly associated with a group called No Tech For Apartheid, which has been critical of Google’s contract with Israel on social media. One of the group’s spokespersons criticized Google’s decision, accusing the company of prioritizing its contract with the Israeli government over the well-being of its workers.

Concerns have been raised that this technology could be used for surveillance and other purposes by the Israeli military.

The terminated employees had been placed on administrative leave before their termination. The protests reflect broader tensions within tech companies regarding their involvement in controversial government contracts and human rights issues.
