Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has condemned the attack by bandits at the Old Oyo National Park Office in Oloka village, Oriire LGA, which claimed the lives of five National Park Service Forest Guards
In a statement on his X account, Makinde described the early Wednesday incident as devastating, noting that the personnel were killed while performing their lawful duties.

He assured that his administration would take all necessary measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
“Preliminary investigations by the security agencies indicate that this was a cross-border attack carried out by bandits. The security agencies are already coordinating efforts to address the situation and seek the cooperation of residents in intelligence gathering,” he said.
Makinde also appealed to residents, particularly in Oriire LGA and other border communities, to remain calm, adding that normalcy has been restored and additional security personnel deployed to the area.
“Let me appeal to residents of Oyo State, especially those in Oriire LGA and other LGAs along our borders, to remain calm as the security agencies have restored normalcy and deployed more personnel to the area,” Mr Makinde stated.
