Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has sacked two of his aides, the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, announced on Monday.
Uwah said the decision is part of the administration’s “ongoing restructuring exercise to align the machinery of government with the goals of the Renewed Hope and Arise Agenda,” adding that Governor Eno “has approved their disengagement from office.”

The affected officials are Joseph Jacob Ikpak, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, and Felix Ekuri, Senior Special Assistant on Neighbourhood Watch.
While the official reason given was administrative restructuring, sources revealed that the aides reportedly attended the recent national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the weekend. Both Ikpak and Ekuri were initially appointed by former Governor Udom Emmanuel and were said to be loyal to him. Efforts to reach the dismissed aides for comment were unsuccessful as their phones were switched off.
