Gunmen, on Thursday, attacked a police checkpoint along the Abakaliki-Enugu Highway and set a police patrol van belonging on fire
Punch correspondent gathered that the incident happened at the Ishieke Junction on the outskirts of Abakaliki metropolis.
Sources in the area said the gunmen killed one policeman and abducted another, but this could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the attack.
