Gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State
The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the chairman’s residence in the Sakpefu community.
According to reports, a five-man gang scaled the fence, firing shots into the air to scare residents before breaking into a room where they found Hajiya Fatima, Swasun’s wife, and his daughter, Amina, and kidnapped them at gunpoint. The assailants then fled with the victims to an unknown location.
A member of the APC state executive council confirmed the attack, noting that Swasun narrowly escaped the incident. The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, has reportedly not yet been briefed on the situation.
The abduction has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in Patigi and other parts of Kwara North, where residents have been calling for stronger security measures. The whereabouts of the victims remain unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
