At least 27 farmers, including both men and women, have been confirmed d8ad following a brutal attack by gunmen on Bindi-Jebbu in the Tahoss community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State

The attack occurred on Monday, leaving several others injured. Victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and Plateau Hospital, for urgent treatment.
Dalyop Solomon, the national president of Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), blamed the assault on suspected Fulani militia. He described the attack as indiscriminate and ruthless, saying the gunmen stormed the community, opened fire on residents, and set multiple homes ablaze.
“About 27 persons were k!lled and many were injured. We have taken the bodies to different hospitals pending burial arrangements,” Solomon said.
When contacted, Plateau State Police spokesperson Alfred Alabo confirmed that a detailed statement would be issued soon regarding the incident.
The attack adds to the growing wave of insecurity in Plateau State and has further heightened fears over the safety of rural communities in the region, which have repeatedly come under violent attacks in recent years.
