Tragedy struck Heartland FC as their head coach, Christian Obi, tragically passed away in a road accident on Friday
The team was en route to Abakaliki to participate in the TICO/SELECT Ifeanyi Ekwueme pre-season tournament when the incident occurred.
Coach Obi was found unconscious with a slight leg injury and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Okwelle, Imo State, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
His remains have been deposited at the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH) morgue in Owerri.
Other injured individuals are receiving further medical attention at the same hospital.
