Rotimi Salami, a talented Nollywood actor, has shared his account of the discrimination and rejection he faced from movie producers due to his physical appearance

In an emotional interview with Feelrightnews TV, Salami revealed how he was consistently sidelined and criticized for his small face and body, with producers favoring actors with more muscular builds.
Salami recounted the struggles he faced while attending movie auditions, often traveling long distances only to be met with rejection.
Despite his persistence, he was given only one movie role in three years.
The actor confessed that the criticism and rejection took a toll on him, and he broke down in tears when producers told him that his appearance was not suitable for roles.
The traumatic experience prompted Salami to re-evaluate his career and consider alternative paths.
He eventually decided to go back to school, seeking a new direction and a chance to rebuild his confidence. Salami’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by many actors in the industry and the importance of promoting inclusivity and diversity in casting decisions.
He said:
“It was not easy at all during the time of our movie auditions because it was quite far from where I was living,” he recalled. He also revealed that despite his persistence, his efforts were often met with rejection.
“For three years, I was given only one movie role,”
“I cried when some producers said they couldn’t give me movie roles because of my face and body,”
